Oldham County, Kentucky, produces a continuous body of court records through its Circuit Court, District Court, and Family Court divisions. These records — which include case documents, orders, judgments, recordings, and administrative materials — are created or received by the court clerk, court agencies, and the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) in connection with individual cases or the court’s general administration. They typically contain party names, case numbers, arraignment dates, case types, and related legal information. Making these records accessible to the public plays an important role in maintaining transparency and accountability in the county’s judicial proceedings.
People seeking court records in Kentucky have several options, including visiting clerk offices in person, using public access terminals at the courthouse, and searching online databases. KentuckyCourts.us can help users locate publicly available court case information across Kentucky’s court system, including Oldham County.

Are Court Records Public in Oldham County?
The Kentucky Open Records Act and the Administrative Office of the Courts Open Records Policy together establish the public’s right to inspect and copy court records held by Oldham County’s Circuit and District Courts. Any person may submit a request to view or copy nonexempt records during regular business hours, and courts are generally required to fulfill requests promptly upon receipt.
Not all records are publicly accessible, however. Courts may deny access to records that are confidential by statute, court rule, or court order. Categories of restricted records in Oldham County include:
- Adoption records — sealed by statute and available only to parties with a direct legal interest
- Juvenile records — protected from general public disclosure under Kentucky law
- Mental health case records — treated as confidential due to their sensitive nature
- Domestic violence case records — shielded from public access by law
- Attorney work product — exempt from disclosure under attorney-client privilege
- Legal research and analysis — similarly protected from release
Criminal record reports obtained through the AOC do not include information on juvenile cases, mental health cases, or domestic violence cases, consistent with these confidentiality rules. When a record request is denied, the requester is entitled to a written explanation. If the denial is believed to be improper, recourse is available through the Kentucky Attorney General’s office.
